Mrs Jade Hanratty
Pastoral Support Officer
My name is Jade Hanratty and I am privileged to be the Pastoral Support Officer at Broadway Junior School.
I have worked with children and families for 14 years. I started my career in a mainstream primary school, where I worked for 10 years. My goal is to support children and families through every challenging situation and I can offer support around attendance, behaviour and a variety of pastoral needs. I am passionate about building children’s confidence and self-esteem and use a range of personalised strategies such as: walk and talk, drawing, painting, cooking, board games, learning breathing techniques, slime making, stress balls, dancing, dodge ball and football. I always ensure the child knows I genuinely believe in them and that they are brilliant and capable of achieving anything they aspire to.
‘Wellbeing for all’ is one of our core values and is so important, not just to me, but to our whole school community. From the moment children enter school on a morning, they will always be welcomed with a warm smile. Staff at Broadway understand that children cannot focus academically if they are experiencing strong emotions. We use our nurturing skills to help children to understand that they are cared about, listened to and we are always here to help.
Our Pastoral Team consists of myself, Mr Walton-Jonas (Headteacher), Mrs Walker (Deputy Headteacher), Mr Ramshaw (SENDCo), Mrs Robinson (Senior Mental Health Lead), Mrs Summers and Mrs Robson (Attendance Administrator). We understand that every child and family is unique, therefore a creative approach is very important. We pride ourselves in making sure we get to understand each individual child and follow their lead, so that they trust and feel safe within the Broadway family. Building this trusted relationship helps us to keep children happy and safe, not only in school, but also at home, in the community and online.
If we are unable to provide help for you and your child within school, we reach out to other services to make sure the correct support is given.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of the Pastoral Team, if you would like to chat further.

Mrs Grace Robinson
Mental Health & Wellbeing Lead
My name is Mrs Robinson and I’m immensely proud to be our schools Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead. This is a subject that I am extremely passionate about and as PSHE coordinator in school, mental health and wellbeing is embedded into the curriculum and is positively reinforced on a daily basis. Children are given a range of experiences and opportunities throughout their time with us, which will allow them to develop resilience, confidence and will help them to thrive in later life.
At Broadway Junior School, our aim is to ensure that all of our pupils are happy, healthy and safe. The emotional well-being of our children is just as important as their physical health. We use the NHS initiative ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’ with our children and this is displayed and referred to in every classroom.
If you would like support or any more information regarding the work we do with your children, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
