YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK

The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all Year 4 pupils registered at state-funded maintained schools, special schools or academies, including free schools, in England.

The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently up to 12, through a set of 25 timed questions. This skill is essential for future success in mathematics, and the check will help schools identify pupils who have not yet mastered this and provide additional support.

OUR OUTCOMES: 

2025-2026

56.9% achieved full marks in the Multiplication Tables Check, a total of 33 pupils. This increased by 3.3%, from 53.6% in 2024/25 to 56.9% in 2025/26. (Note - a further 11 children scored 24/25 meaning those achieving 24 or 25/25 = 76%)

The average proportion achieving full marks for the last 3 academic year(s) is now 48.9%.

2024-2025 

53.6% achieved full marks in the Multiplication Tables Check, a total of 30 pupils. This increased by 15.4%, from 38.2% in 2023/24 to 53.6% in 2024/25 and is equivalent to approximately 9 more pupils achieving full marks in 2024/25 compared to 2023/24.
